Beginners are always welcome at TENSHINKAN KARATE. Check the notice board
just outside the Robbins Centre (opposite the Campus Supermarket), the Training Sessions page of this site
or our calendar on SUSA Online for details of training times. Whether you want to learn self defence,
get/keep fit, participate in competitions, or just meet new people, you will find we cater for everyone. You
won't need a gi (karate suit) straight away! Any form of loose clothing (sweats, tracksuit, sweatpants + t-shirt) will do, but if you decide to carry on with training you
will feel more comfortable with the proper kit.
We normally separate beginners from experienced members
to begin with, just to break them in gently. Most beginners find the 1 hour sessions
on Tuesday and Wednesday a little easier at first, but if you do wish to take things seriously, you really need to come along to
all sessions. The other major benefit of coming along to all sessions is the socialising we tend to do just after. A nice cool refreshing drink, and a chat to instructors and members is
a weekly event - normally on Fridays. Of course there's also the traditional (and legendary
- check out some of the pics on the Gallery page) Karate Club pub crawls, either through Bridge of Allan
or Stirling, but other locations will be considered.
